Motorcycle Diaries (What I Learned while driving through Vietnam)

Take one challenge at a time. Looking at the big picture may look overwhelming or impossible. If you take it a step at a time you'll get to your destination eventually.

  • Don't wait for your tank to hit 0 before refueling. When you start feeling tired take some time to recharge, it'll make your trip less stressful, forceful and more pleasurable.

  • When you take a wrong turn, backtrack to the place you took it and continue going the right way.

  • Most of the time, the journey is more rewarding than the destination. Stop and take a look around once in a while, you'll realize there's beauty all around you.

  • By taking the wrong turn you can sometimes end up at a beautiful destination.

  • Don't be afraid to take risks.

  • The less baggage you carry, the quicker you'll get to your destination.

  • Sometimes traveling alone can be more rewarding.

  • Slow down at the turns and go quick when you're going straight. Take advantage of when your mind is clear, but think clearly and slow when you can't see around the corner.

  • When you spend your time looking around, you might miss what's in front of you.

  • Never think you have something 100% figured out. By doing this you let your guard down and are begging to crash.

  • Don't let dogs, chickens and cracks on the road distract you from your destination. Keep looking forward and avoid them.

  • It's easier to drive when you're looking forward instead of back.

  • Don't tense up when turning. You have more mobility if you keep yourself relaxed.
